Field Trip to the Butterfly Garden
Field trips provide an authentic opportunity for children to learn, grow and explore beyond the classroom walls. On Friday April 4th, the Creativity, Excellence, and Grade 1 class took a field trip to the Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium. Prior to our visit we discussed and brainstormed ideas and question that we had about butterflies. The children were fascinated by the stages of metamorphosis that happened in the life cycle of the butterfly and were enthusiastic to learn more about them.
So early Friday morning the three classes boarded 4 buses and made our way to the Suan Rod Fai Park. We then charted out how many eggs, caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterflies we saw. The children were impressed by the variety of butterflies in the garden as they carefully observed and counted all the butterflies they saw. They demonstrated their care for other living things as they made sure to not touch or harm the insects in any way. The day ended with a group picnic in front of the garden. Then the children had fun freely playing in the open green space. |
